Dear AOJAH Members and Supporters,

Hurricane Melissa has left unprecedented devastation and loss on the island of Jamaica, creating extreme hardship on the Jamaican community that will take several years to recover. As a humanitarian organization that has been delivering on-the-ground services to the island, the Alliance of Jamaican and American Humanitarians (AOJAH) is doubling its efforts to continue to deliver much-needed support services at this crucial time.

Our Board of Directors is adopting a two-pronged approach to bring essential aid to those who need it most. We have prioritized focusing our efforts on the ravaged areas of St. Ann’s Parish and the neighboring Black River region, working with our resources on the ground to identify immediate and long-term needs. Simultaneously, we will be collaborating with California-based charitable organizations, the Jamaican government, and other private entities to supplement their relief efforts.
