Dr. Gregory Saccone is a native of California. He is a Board Certified Internist, received his medical degree from David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and has been in practice for more than 20 years. Dr. Saccone is a partner with the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG), where he is the Physician in Charge at the Santa Monica Medical Office. Dr. Saccone is also the Physician Director of Medical Informatics at Kaiser WLA and has several other leadership roles. He serves on the SCPMG Board of Directors, representing the WLA Medical Center.
Dr. Saccone is dedicated to his medical practice, has been an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA and have lectured on a variety of subjects during his career. Greg was the Information Technology guru since the start-up of the electronic health record, he is known for his expertise and was instrumental in many of its improvements. He is always willing to share his knowledge freely. Greg is also fluent in Spanish which is a great asset.
Greg is no stranger to volunteering, he has been doing medical missions to Jamaica for the last fifteen years. For the past seven years he has served on AOJAH’s Board of Directors. In addition, he has served as the Physician Director of Medical Operations for the medical mission. Greg has been instrumental in assuring continuity of care by developing a database to track patients during the yearly mission. This database has provided information for the planning of the types and amount of medicines required for the following year. He has spent countless hours coordinating and securing medications, in addition to donating funds to assure a successful mission. Besides the numerous hours spent planning and organizing for the mission, when he arrives in Jamaica, he provides exceptional compassionate care to the patients as if they were one of his family members. Greg’s care extends to the animals in Jamaica, he can be seen feeding and touching a stray dog!
Greg is also committed to the local community, where he provides charitable care for the homeless in the Skid row downtown area.
Greg has been a recipient of many awards, which includes but not limited to, Internist of the Year, Physician of the Year, Best MD/RN Collaboration and Everyday Hero. In Greg’s free time he loves to write, play blues guitar and spend time with his family. The Alliance of Jamaican and American Humanitarians congratulate Dr. Gregory Saccone for his unwavering commitment and dedication to underserved communities.
